A Church for All People

Saturday, November 9, 2019 – 10:00 – 11:30 AM – Fireside Room

Led by Dr. Ginny Smith

Seeking Wisdom will gather once again on Saturday, November 9, 2019.  Please consider being a part of this Bible study experience, when we will be exploring how God’s Spirit guides and leads us to live faithful and loving lives.  Brian D. McLaren’s book, We Make the Road by Walking has proven to be an excellent guide in helping us dig deeper into what can often be unfamiliar territory.  You can purchase this book on Amazon if you do not have a copy.

On November 10, we’ll take a look at chapter 42, “Spirit of Love: Loving God,” and chapter 43, “Spirit of Love: Loving Neighbors” to get a fresh perspective on how the Holy Spirit is active in our lives.

Where the Spirit is moving, love for God always, always, always overflows in love for neighbor.  And according to Jesus, our neighbor isn’t just the person who is life us, the person who likes us, or the person we like.  Our neighbor is anyone and everyone. . . .  the Spirit wants to break down walls of prejudice and hostility so that we stop judging us as clean and them as unclean, opening the way for strangers and enemies to become neighbors, friends, family. . . .  That comes as a shock to many of us who were taught that same is safe and different is dangerous.”

Christians have a crucial responsibility to bring new life and love into the world.  Let’s come together to reflect on God’s Word so that we can find ways to open to God’s Spirit guiding us.  Please read the Scripture passages and book chapters ahead of time.

To help you plan ahead, here are future meeting dates:  December 14, 2019; January 11, February 8, March 14, April 18, May 16, and June 13, 2020.

Please invite neighbors and friends who might be interested.  ALL ARE WELCOME!
