SEEKING WISDOM BIBLE EXPLORATION

Saturday, December 14, 2019 – 10:00 – 11:30 AM – Fireside Room

Led by Dr. Ginny Smith

IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO JOIN THE JOURNEY!  Please plan on joining us on December 14 as we continue to explore Scripture.  Brian D. McLaren’s book, We Make the Road by Walking has proven to be an excellent guide in helping us dig deeper into what the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments mean for our lives today.  You can find the book (new and used) on Amazon, but feel free to come even if you don’t have a copy.  We’re really good at sharing!  In fact, 3 new people joined us in November and were able to jump right in!

We’ll be taking a look at chapter 44, “Spirit of Love: Loving Self” and chapter 45, “Spirit of Unity and Diversity” to get a fresh perspective on how the Holy Spirit is active in our lives and gain insight into what has come to be known as the Trinity

“In the centuries after Jesus walked this Earth, theologians and mystics who reflected on Jesus’ life and teaching were faced with a paradox.  They agreed there was only one God as their tradition had taught.  But the oneness of the Creator wasn’t as flat or static as they had assumed.  In Christ and through the Spirit, they came to see that God’s unity was so deep and dynamic that it included diversity.  And this diversity didn’t compromise God’s unity but made it more beautiful and wonderful.  Over time, they tried to describe this mysterious paradox.  After much dialogue and debate, a radically new understanding and teaching about God emerged.  They had to create a whole new term to convey it: Trinity.”

As Christians, we have a responsibility to bring new life and love into the world.   By coming together to reflect on God’s Word, we are assisted in finding ways to be open to God’s Spirit already guiding us.

To help you plan ahead, here are future meeting dates:  January 11, February 8, March 14, April 18, May 16, and June 13, 2020.

Please invite neighbors and friends who might be interested.  ALL ARE WELCOME!
