A Church for All People

Lenten Giving Opportunity

Joseph’s House for Women

Joseph’s House for Women on Burnet Ave in Syracuse provides a nurturing home for mothers facing an unplanned pregnancy or homelessness. Moms and babies who find themselves homeless due to a wide variety of circumstances can find refuge here.

Joseph’s House provides its mothers and children with a private room and a family living environment complete with nursery, kitchen, computer equipped study, dining, living and recreational rooms common to all. The home is staffed 24/7 by trained professionals who give the mothers the structure, responsibility and skills they need to achieve independent living. Everyone shares in tasks and chores.

Life skills such as lessons in parenting, financial, literacy, social skills are taught. Health services are procured and a plan for each mother and child is developed with a case manager. Assistance is proved for both vocational and educational services that are appropriate for the resident. And finally, through the Exodus program, the center supports mothers in their transition to independent living.
