Missions

At Marcellus First Presbyterian Church, we believe that we are meant to live out our faith in the world. We are very active in mission projects that give each one of us the chance to make a difference. Our members work together in a variety of one-time and recurring mission giving opportunities.

In 2023, the following places/organizations received a portion of our Mission Pledge:

Blessings in a Backpack • Matthew 25 Farm • Theological Education Fund • Children of the Father’s House • Presbyterian Peace Fellowship • Presbyterian Disaster Assistance • The Brady Faith Center • Clear Path for Veterans • In My Father's Kitchen • More Light Ministries • The Samaritan Center • InterFaith Works • Light a Candle for Literacy • Loaves & Fishes

Some of our recurring outreach missions beyond our local congregation are:

5TH SUNDAY MISSION PROGRAMS

When the calendar has a month with five Sundays, usually four times a year, we find mission opportunities that take us out into the community for a hands-on mission experience.  Some months we invite a speaker from a local non-profit organization to share an overview of their program.

SLEEP IN HEAVENLY PEACE

Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a group of volunteers dedicated to building, assembling and delivering beds to children (ages 3-17) in need in the greater Syracuse area. We believe in sharing the need with the community and then providing ways for the community to help meet that need. The non-profit organization is an all-volunteer group that builds, assembles and delivers beds to children (ages 3 to 17) in need in the greater Syracuse and Oswego City area. Since its first delivery Oct. 6, 2018, the local organization has delivered more than 5,000 beds.

STS. PETER AND JOHN EPISCOPAL CHURCH

On the second Sunday of each month, we make sandwiches and deliver them to Sts. Peter and John Church in Auburn, NY for their soup kitchen community outreach program.
